Two important dates are coming up related to the campaign to keep Edora an 18 hole course:
Saturday Jan 21 - 10:00am: Petition Signing and Canvassing at Edora Park. Stop by the pavillion near Edora Park hole 1, where club representatives will have a paper copies of the petition on hand, and will be coordinating a door-to-door canvassing of the surrounding neighborhoods. Even if you have already signed the online version, this is a good opportunity to sign the paper version, which carries more weight when presented to city officials.
Tuesday Feb 7 - 6:00pm: Town Council Meeting, 300 Laporte Ave in Fort Collins. Come support the cause with your presence, and if you can, lend your voice as well during the public comment period of the meeting. A packed house of supporters helps show that downgrading Edora goes against the best interests of the citizens of Fort Collins.

The new disc golf course at Hughes stadium is in the ground, and has so far been met with good reviews from local players. For those who are unfamiliar with the area, here are directions to the course from I-25. Having another 18 hole course in Fort Collins is long overdue and we applaud the City of Fort Collins, Colorado State University, and Bill Wright from the Wright Life for partnering to make this course a reality.
The city has also made it clear they intend to downgrade the Edora Park course from 18 holes to 9 holes, now that this new course is open. Due to overwhelming disapproval from local players, we are circulating a petition to encourage the city to preserve this historic course, an important asset of our city for 22 years. There is an online petition which we encourage you to sign, but knowing that physical signatures are most important, we encourage you to seek out the paper version we are circulating at events. If you are interested in circulating a copy of the petition, contact Luc at skywalker-noco@hotmail.com

The club has put out a call for artwork submissions for the 2012 St Patty's Day Meltdown. The deadline for artwork submissions will be Jan. 8 so that any submissions can be discussed at the Jan. 9 club meeting.
In recent years, artwork has been themed after either the club's logo or various Irish or St Patty's Day themes (leprechauns, clover's etc), but don't feel restricted by these topics. Submissions can be sent to kc@nocodiscgolf.com

Tuesday night glow golf at Edora!
The short daylight season is upon us. With that in mind, I would like to start a glow night on Tuesday nights at Edora (starting 11/15/11) until league night starts up again in the Spring. The format will be random draw doubles (play from best throw). Sign ups will start at 5:30pm. Tee off at 6:00 sharp. Entry is $5 per PERSON. If there is an odd person, they will have the option to pay an extra $5 to have 2 shots for every shot otherwise they only get 1 extra shot per hole. I have been wanting to start up glow doubles with no divisions for a while. Its a great way to get a chance to play with people that you don't get to throw with on a regular basis. I will be providing some nice battery powered glow sticks to hang from the baskets and I will have some hand warmers ($1/ pair) and some LED lights ($4 each) to tape to the top of your discs. I may not have enough, so go to the Wright Life or JAX ahead of time to buy LEDs. NOTE: DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR THE WEATHER. I WILL BE THERE EVERY NIGHT UNLESS OTHERWISE ANNOUNCED. Thanks -Colin

The Winter Warriors doubles series is back for it's seventh season! This is a traveling series of events which visits many courses along the Front Range throughout the winter months, raising funds for the Food Bank of the Rockies. There are two events scheduled nearby, Nov 12 at Oxbow in Windsor and Jan 7 at Edora. Although there will be weekly winners, points will be tracked throughout the series as well, so try to make as many as you can!
For more info on format, and other dates throughout the state, visit the Mile High club's Winter Warriors page.

It finally happened! After a long wait and some design adjustments, Edora has undergone a few changes to help the course flow better with the other uses of the park. This is a great thing for local disc golf, because at times removing the course completely due to conflicts was thought to be the best solution.
Among the changes:
- Hole #4 will now become the starting hole #1, with the former BMX track parking lot being the main parking area for disc golfers. Maps are available at old hole #4 (New hole #1).
- There are 3 new holes replacing 3 former holes, and the order of play and numbering has changed for all holes. See the map for details.
- The practice basket will eventually be installed in old hole #3's pin position. It will be moved to it's new home once the concrete is removed from old hole #3's teebox and it's safe to practice there.
To keep the course flowing smoothly, please park in the new parking area and follow the new course flow, and help spread the word to other players who haven't heard about the changes yet. If a tee's concrete is broken up, don't play from it, it's no longer part of the course. Enjoy the new variations on this classic course of ours!

We made a request to the city to get some help with Edora and the new hole that is going in over off of Riverside. The idea was to have an island hole. Something to make a wide open hole more challenging. There will be two tees. One Am and one Pro. There will be a drop zone if you don't land on the island. All the people that have tested it have enjoyed the hole and I hope you all will too. With our request we received help from the people in the orange vests. With special thanks to the A-team. Disc golf thanks to Ray and Patrick for volunteering to stain and screw the timbers together. If you need any work done Ray is a great guy and a disc golfer. You can contact Ray at Encore Handyman Services 970-412-0289. It was a great day and lots of work got done. Here are just a few pictures.
Also thanks to Shawn and Javier with the city of Ft Collins for doing 8 mulch drops and providing tools.. I will be out on Tuesday league to give you an update and talk about the up coming elections.

As some may already know, we have a new disc golf course in Northern Colorado, located in the Oxbow Natural Area of Eastman Park, in Windsor, CO. This 12 hole course is a collaborative project between the Town of Windsor and the dedicated volunteers in the local disc golf scene, made possible by many generous donations from the surrounding communities.
The course is open for play, and baskets are in place, but many features are still in the works. Currently, the tee sign posts are installed and numbered, and soon the signs themselves will be finished. Plans are in the works for a welcome board to house the course map, announcements, etc.
Being in a natural area, it is very important that visitors respect the land and the natural features of the course. Tread lightly, and please avoid, as best you can, causing any damage to your surroundings. Intentional breakage of vegetation is not allowed, and should be actively discouraged if encountered.
We'd like to give a big "thank you" to all those who contributed in their own way to making this great new course a reality! A special thanks goes out to Shawn Aschliman, who was not only the original inspiration for the project, but the primary motivator and organizer of the effort. Thanks Shawn!
