16 qualifiers and 16 invitees make up the list of 32 participants in the 2014 NoCo Match Play Invitational, a club fundraising event taking place next month. Match play begins August 1st, and runs throughout the month, culminating with a final match that crowns the winner.
Didn't get into the tournament this year? Not to worry! You can participate by getting in the action in other ways.
- Fill out as many tournament brackets as you like for $5 each. The winning bracket takes all! 50% payout, with the rest supporting the club to promote and develop local disc golf. Brackets can be filled out at the Wright Life.
- Spectate at the matches and cheer on your friends or favorite players! Match times/location will be posted whenever possible, so offer to caddy for your friends in the tournament!
The qualifiers earned their berth based on their performance at the July 22nd Edora Summer League, and the invitees were chosen by the co-tournament directors based on club support/involvement, skill level and availability. For fairness, the pairings were randomly drawn from a hat, but the player with the lower PDGA rating determines the course to be played. A player whose opponent has a good short-game but doesn't throw far might choose a long course, and vice-versa.
While the lower-seeded player gets to choose the course, they are limited to the following NoCO course options. An 18 hole-minimum course length must be specified, so shorter courses must consist of multiple rounds:
- Edora Park (FtC),
- Aggie Greens (FtC),
- Boltz JHS (FtC),
- Fort Collins HS (FtC)
- Heritage (FtC),
- Cache La Poudre CLP (Laporte),
- Oxbow (Windsor) and
- Rice Elementary (Wellington)
This is going to be Epic! (Pun intended..)
Players begin to show up for the pairings party at Coopersmiths July 25th:
