WHAT's going on!
Don't forget - WHAT, the first annual Wet Hot American Thumber tournament (B-tier) is coming up. July 23-24th at Edora. Let's make this a big success so we can expand it in future years!

Introducing: Sky Corral Disc Golf Course!
Congratulations! It's a New Course! NoCo leadership has been working with Sky Corral Ranch to establish a new course up on their property. Check out the Ranch's website here. The new course will feature a beginner friendly(ish) front 9, with a punishing tournament-level back 9, DGA Mach VII baskets, and concrete tee pads. Trees, mountains, water. Good stuff!
Those concrete tee pads won't install themselves though - Volunteer Work Day Sunday July 17th to install pads, basket sleeves, and other installation steps. Email info@nocodiscgolf.com for details (we'll send a reminder next week, too)

Introducing: Monday Morning Tags League!
Like to wake up crazy early to play disc golf? Want a FREE league to start your week off with some friendly competition? Want a chance to win a 2023 NCDGC membership?
Then - Join us! 6:30am on Mondays at different courses around town starting this Monday July 11th at Fort Collins High School. Find the schedule and more details on Disc Golf Scene
The intention for this league is to be a streamlined and quick complement to our traditional Tuesday evening league. You must be a NoCo Tag Holder to participate as tags are on the line. We'll play relatively short courses (FCHS, Fossil Ridge, and the 12-hole layout at Edora) so you'll be able to get on with your day afterward.
I'm still debating whether to do an optional ace pool or not, and considering other tweaks, so join and let me know what you'd like to see happen.
Scores and standings will be kept on the league page, here at Disc Golf Scene.
Winner of the series gets a free 2023 NCDGC membership!
Tour De Foco Frolf
by Ryan Haunfelder

This month marks my last as a Fort Collins resident. I moved to Fort Collins in 2011 with my girlfriend Lauren, shortly after graduating from college. It was my first time in a new city and a short 4 hours after the last box was unpacked I found myself on hole 1 at Edora for a Tuesday night league. That night I instantly made friends that I still have today as we played catch next to the horseshoe pits waiting for scores to be tallied. I’ve had a lot of memorable experiences but a few that stick out include taking 5th at collegiate nationals with CSU, being TD for the first time at RFO, and playing the legendary hole from the top of Aspen’s gondola to the base.
To cap off more than a decade in the Choice city, I worked with a few friends to plan a single day tour of every course. Although I’ve played them all many many times, I was shocked to see the total holes on paper; 107! The route we planned goes clockwise around Fort Collins, with stops at Heritage (just a few hundred feet from my first apartment), Hughes (the first course I helped install), Lincoln, CLP, Budweiser, Edora, Boltz, FCHS, and Fossil Ridge. The day started at 7 am, with designated course ambassadors at each stop that were responsible for providing prizes and quirky rules; Will gave us a gambling game complete with scratch offs, John watched us fail in “birdie alley”, and Dion was inches from an off-hand ace. Your fearless NOCO leaders (and disc golf couple?) Jon and Jason even set up a special bonus hole called the “hanging marksman”, which was exactly as the name implies. An exhausting day that finished 10 minutes before storms rolled in.
There’s no doubt about it, Fort Collins is a mecca for disc golf. I’ll be forever grateful for the passionate players that made the city that way. From tournament directors to course maintainers to the friendly faces at the local league that are genuinely happy to see you show up, you’ve made my time here incredible. To all the friends I’ve made along the way, please please please reach out to me if you ever find yourself in Wisconsin. If you’re new to the scene in Fort Collins, consider yourself lucky and I look forward to seeing where you take it from here. Might I suggest making Tour de Foco Frolf an annual tradition with costumes and beers that could rival its biking counterpart?
We love ya Ryan, we'll come visit you in Wisconsin! - The Board
